Envy Not A Violent Man

31 Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, 32 for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence. (Proverbs 3:31-32 NIV)

Are there violent folks in the Church?  Are there violent folks within the ranks of those who profess Christ as Lord and Savior.  Are there folks on your job who always seem to be ready for an argument?  Are there folks in your Church who almost make others afraid to even speak to them?  Are there folks in your neighborhood who has a reputation of telling others off?  You can bet your last dollar that there are.  However, those of a pure heart should not envy them.  Not only should you not envy them, but the psalmist also says do not follow any of their ways.  Do not adopt their character.  Do not follow their example.  This is not pleasing to God.  As a matter of fact he detests this.  God despises a violent man.  He hates this evil and wicked man.  He hates the perverse man.  The devious person is disgusting to the Lord.  But the upright is altogether different.  The Lord will take the upright into His confidence.  Some translations state that the Lord will have a friendship with the upright.  It is a blessing to be able to have a close friendship with God.  The upright are in his secret counsel.  He will reveal to the upright what he would not reveal to the unjust.  The upright will have an intimate relationship with God and with Christ Jesus.  What A Friend We Have In Jesus.
