Cheap Talk

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. (Proverbs 14:23)

Talk is cheap.  Penury is poverty.  Talk is one of the cheapest actions that one can perform.  One only expends hot air when they are just talking.  To talk, one only needs to inhale and exhale while using their vocal chords to make sound.  It is an easy thing to say what someone else should have done.  To talk about starting a business and never take any active steps to start one will get you no where.  To talk about how to do a certain thing and to put forth no effort will cause one to become just as cheap and just as useless as cheap talk.  Doing is what will bring a profit.  Action is what is necessary.  In the Church community, there are talkers and there are doers.  Hard work will always bring a profit.  If one’s service to God is all about talk, their reward will be poverty.  If one labors diligently for the service of the Lord, it will bring a great profit.  Labour is painful.  Talk is idle.  Labour is working.  Talk is making plans.  Labour is doing something.  Talk is vain promises.  Working with your mouth will get you no where.  Working with your hands will pay off.
