Praise God For Hidden Things

In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. (Luke 10:21)

The scribes had worked long and hard to study the law or the Torah which is the instructions and teachings according to what was handed down from God to Moses.  These scribes were considered the wise.  They were the learned.  They were the educated.  The pharisees were the “so-called” pious people of the day.  They made sure that they followed the law specifically and that all others followed the law.  The people who followed Jesus including the disciples were the unlearned and uneducated.  However, they had an advantage.  They knew the Father and had a relationship with the Son.  Therefore the Son and Father revealed things to those who had become like babies that had not been revealed to the wise and prudent.  They allowed them to see and experience things that the Scribes and Pharisees would almost be willing to give an arm in exchange.  But God has no respect of person.  Only those who will be open to Him and His Son will receive special blessings.

The people following Christ were like babies because they were open to instructions.  When we do not become as a child, we are not open to what God wants to share with us.  When WE know-it-all, WE close the door to God’s special blessings.  Research and science cannot tell us everything.  There are some things that can only be revealed by God himself.  He waits until there are those who would let go of all that they think they know to receive what he has to give them.  Education is good.  Study is good.  Research is good.  As long as we do not put our trust in that, we will do well.  Our trust is in God who will take what we have and enlighten us beyond measure and beyond our own comprehension.  Isn’t it good to know that you do not have to be a king or president, rich or famous, or someone important in man’s eyes to receive a special blessing from God.  Praise God for the hidden things that he has revealed to babies.
