Receiving A Crown Of Life

10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.  (Revelation 2:10)

Faithfulness is such a misunderstood concept.  Some feel that faithfulness is giving to the Lord when it is convenient.  This applies to our time, our talent and His tithe.  Some feel faithfulness is just being a part of a certain group.  Some feel faithfulness is a certain feeling we have.  We will find the standard of a faithful Christian in this 10th verse of the 2nd chapter of Revelation.  Faithfulness requires a certain amount of suffering.  This suffering will include self-denial.  It will include self-sacrifice.  God requires us to be faithful.  John writes, “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer.”  He does not say which thou might suffer but rather which thou shalt suffer.  He is talking about being faithful even when times of suffering comes.  He is talking about being faithful even if it means persecution.  He is talking about being faithful even when you are going through difficult times.  He is talking about being faithful even when you are going through tribulation.  He is talking about being faithful even if it means death.  The reward is great.  If you are faithful even if it means death and if you are faithful until you die, Christ promises a crown of life.
