Become An Overcomer

And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:  27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 28 And I will give him the morning star.  29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (Revelation 2:26-28)

To overcome is to conquer.  It means to defeat or to triumph over.  Are you an overcomer?  Have you defeated or are you being defeated?  Have you triumphed over or are you being trounced upon or tramped under?  You can discover in God’s word that you too can be an overcomer.  To become an overcomer, you need only to keep God’s works until the end.  The song comes to mind, I Am On The Battlefield For My Lord.  The songwriter says I promised Him that I would serve Him until I die.  He is simply saying that I am going to overcome.  There is struggle in overcoming.  No victory is easy.  But the rewards are great.  For he that overcomes and keeps the works of God until the end, God will give him power and rule over the nations. Not only will God give him power to rule, but he will also give him the morning star.  Some theologians say that this means the believer will reflect Christ’s glory.  Some feel it refers to the participation of the believer in the rapture of the Church before the dark days.  Still others have written that it refers to the example of Venus which is the great star shining in glory.  What ever the specific meaning, if it comes from God and is given to the believer for faithful service, that is good enough for me.  One thing I do know, if we are faithful unto death, we will receive a crown of righteousness.  He that hath an ear, LET HIM HEAR.  The spirit of God is speaking unto the churches.  Let us pray.  Father, help me to overcome sin.  Help me to overcome evil.  Help me to overcome slothfulness.  Help me to overcome Satan’s attack on my life, my children, my family, my home, my Church.  Help me to be an overcomer.  Thank you for your power.  Thank you for your rule.  Thank you for the victory.  Thank you for allowing me to reign with Christ.  Amen.  Amen.
