Destroying Satan’s Work

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.  (1 John 3:8)

Other translations state “when people keep on sinning it shows they belong to the devil or whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil”.  Satan is the ultimate factor behind all sin.  This is not saying that Satan makes us sin because we have the freedom to choose.  We can choose to live for God or we can choose to live for Satan.  Don’t allow yourself to believe that you cannot live a godly life.  Don’t believe that Satan’s power is too great to resist.  If you desire to live godly and resist sin, God will make a way for you to escape.  When God makes a way, we must seek that way rather than Satan’s way.  Satan’s way is to say I can’t do it.  Satan’s way is to say it is just too hard.  Know this today that Satan is not all powerful.  Only God is all powerful.  He is an omnipotent God.  He that lives in us is greater than he that lives in the world.  Simply put, the Holy Spirit is He that lives in us.  He is the third person of the godhead.  He is greater than Satan who lives in the world.  One reason for Christ’s coming was to destroy Satan’s work.  Satan causes sin.  Sin causes death.  Death is eternal damnation.  But thank God that He so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that we might have life and not death.  Sin has been taken to the grave and overcome by Christ.  The penalty for sin is death.  Christ has died in our place.  When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, the sting of death has been taken away.  We can have life in Christ Jesus.  All the work Satan invested to ensure our death has been destroyed in Christ Jesus.  What a great God we serve.  Hallelujah.
