Judge Not By What You See

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. (John 7:24)

There was a popular song in the 1960s  song by Marvin Gaye called “I heard It Through The Grapevine”.  It was #1 for 7 weeks in 1968.  In that song, Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong wrote: people say believe half of what you see, son, and none of what you hear.  If you think about those lyrics, in our society, if really considered, it would be denied by most.  For most of us feel that if we saw it with our own eyes, it has to be true.  Be mindful that appearances can deceive you.  What appears to be true may not in fact be true.  What appears to be godly may not in fact be godly.  What appears to be ungodly, may in fact be what God desires.  We see with man’s eyes.  But God does not see the same as man sees.  Be prayerful that you are not deceived by what you can physically see.  In the book of 1 Samuel, chapter 16, verse 7, part b says these words……..for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. Be careful not to judge anything by outward appearances.
