I Can Do All Things Through Christ

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.  12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.  13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  (Philippians 4:11-13)

What a beautiful passage of scripture.  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  Some vital notes on this passage as we meditate.  This passage is quoted often by Christians.  What some are thinking is that I can do all things as long as I have every thing I need to do them.  Note the words of Paul in the previous text.  He says in so many words that he may not have everything that he needs, he may not have all that he want, he may have to do without some times but yet and still with Christ, he can still handle what he needs to handle.  Are we content in whatever situation we have been placed?  Are we content when we don’t have enough?  Are we content when we have to do without?  Are we content when we have need and can’t be relieved of that need?  And then are we content when we have plenty or are we trying to get more?  The issue is a dependence on Christ.  He does not say that I can do all things and leave it focused on self.  He says I can do all things through Christ.  The focus therefore is on Christ.  Keep Christ the primary, ultimate and only focus and we will be able to handle anything no matter what situation we are dealt.  When we are Christ focused, we become Can Do Christians.
