Pressing On Toward The Goal

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.  13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 3:12-14)

If you think you have it made and that you don’t need to grow, you are in a terrible predicament.  No human being has attained a perfect state whereby there is no room for growth.   When that is understood, the opportunity for growth is released.  When one thinks that they are where they need to be and/or that they are at the highest level of Christian maturity, you will find a stagnate spiritual life.  Our spiritual maturity is a life long journey with daily growth.  We must always press toward the mark.  We must always press toward the goal.  We must always seek to be better.  We must always seek to be more committed.  We must always seek to be more humble.  We must always seek to be more Christ-like.  We must always seek to have more faith.  I could go on and on but what I am simply saying is that our job is not over.  We must do all that we can to grow spiritually each and every day.  Our prize is received at the end of the journey not in the middle.   So press on toward the prize.  Press on toward the goal.  Press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
