Our Place In God’s Kingdom

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.  (John 14:1-3)

This passage has been quoted, memorized, and preached over and over and over again to comfort one who has been troubled.  Trouble comes in all forms, with some of them being loss of job, loss of loved one, loss of health, loss of security as well as many others.  When trouble opens our door and comes into our life (and it will) we should not allow it to overcome us.  In other words, we should not allow our hearts to be overcome by the trouble.  Troubles will come but they cannot overcome.  One reason is because we know that whatever happens in this world is only temporary.  Temporary tears.  Temporary sadness.  Temporary trials.   Temporary hardships.  Temporary losses.  Temporary pain.  Temporary defeat.  But thank God for the victory.  Keep your eyes on the prize.  Keep your eyes on what Christ has prepared for us.  Keep your eyes on Jesus.  If you believe that there is a God and if you believe in God, Jesus says you can trust Him also.  He left this earth going to prepare a place for us.  A place of eternal joy.  Eternal goodness.  Eternal peace.  Eternal contentment.  Eternal happiness.  He prepared a place for us in the Kingdom of God.  When we focus on the Eternal, we can make it through the Temporary.
