The Counsel Of The Holy Ghost

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.  (John 14:26)

What is the purpose of the Holy Ghost?  One of the jobs of the Holy Ghost is to bring to our remembrance the Words spoken by Jesus.  To remind us of what He said.  The Greek word that is translated Comforter is also translated as Helper, Advocate or Counselor.  The Holy Ghost is all of that to us.  He helps us by reminding us what Jesus says.  When we are tempted to sin, the Holy Ghost brings to our remembrance words from the mouth of Christ.  He is our advocate because he pleads our case.  If we do fall into the trap of sin, He will plead our case when we come to the Father and ask for forgiveness.  Whatever decisions you have, make them with the guidance of the Holy Ghost.  Read your Bible.  At the appropriate time, the Holy Ghost will bring the teachings of Christ to our remembrance.  When Satan attacks you with sin, the Holy Ghost will bring to your remembrance the admonition of the Word of God.  We need the counsel of the Holy Ghost every day of our life.
